Program Philosophy and Objectives
St. Joseph Hill Academy, recognizing the need to maximize the use of technology for our students in a rapidly expanding digital environment, is providing an opportunity for them to expand beyond the traditional walls of learning. Our students will be global learners, where limitations to information and ideas do not exist.
St. Joseph Hill students use laptops in all subject areas as a means for researching and developing ideas both in and out of the classroom. In addition to providing students with access to a wealth of information across a spectrum of topics and subject areas via the Internet and various software applications, the use of laptops in the classroom allows students to work independently to develop and enhance their knowledge in various subject areas. Their use is an alternative to direct, lecture-driven instruction. Furthermore, the use of laptops enhances students' knowledge and capabilities of software that is so prevalent in our universities and businesses today.
By integrating the use of laptops and related technology into the curriculum, St. Joseph Hill strives to provide its students with the opportunity to: apply more problem solving and critical thinking skills; produce higher quality work; and increase motivation and interest in core academic subjects. Furthermore, student creativity is encouraged and enhanced as they discover different ways to present ideas and communicate opinions.
